At the same time, we also observed an environmental issue in the wastewater management sector, specifically at the Wastewater Treatment and Construction Services Development Center (Balai PALPJK) in Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The volume of sludge waste continues to increase, accumulating in the Sludge Drying Bed (SDB), and requires significant costs for disposal. From there, we came up with the idea to utilize sludge as a raw material for red brick production. In addition to addressing waste and providing affordable building materials, REBATA production also creates new employment opportunities for inmates at Pajangan prison, helping them become more productive and earn an income. This initiative will be driven by the Pondasi community through hands-on training, and in the future, REBATA will be marketed by the village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) as part of strengthening the local economy and ensuring closer distribution to the community.
